ScarWork Therapy with Sharon Wheeler
Most of us have one or more pain patterns due to behavioral or postural issues, accidents, or emotional trauma. When you arrive at my studio, we talk about how your body is feeling, and your session is tailored to release your problem areas and provide relief. I offer Swedish for a deeply relaxing experience, Deep Tissue massage to address sore or injured muscles, as well as Lymphatic Drainage, Oncology massage, ScarWork (scar tissue management therapy), and Craniosacral therapy.
My advanced training in Manual Lymphatic Drainage allows me to specialize in working with clients managing any form of swelling or edema, such as Lipedema and Lymphedema, CVI, or those recovering from cancer related surgeries, elective surgery, joint replacement or C-Section surgery.
I am also trained in Oncology Massage and I’m a preferred practitioner of the nationally recognized Society for Oncology Massage (S4OM). I have a comprehensive understanding of the various types of cancer, cancer treatments and side-effects, and hands-on experience with the healing process. Oncology massage is suggested for those in active treatment or once treatment is complete to provide safe and nurturing touch. If you’ve had radiation and lymph node removal, it is especially important to seek Oncology trained massage therapists.
Because I treat so many clients recovering from surgery, I have further training in ScarWork Therapy, a novel way of treating scars and scar tissue, taught by Sharon Wheeler. ScarWork is gentle and effective in increasing range of motion, skin motility and suppleness, and decreasing scar tissue that can sometimes cause pain.
Finally, I also practice Cranialsacral Therapy, a soft touch therapy that facilitates the body's natural and innate healing processes, used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and has been shown to be beneficial for people seeking help with a wide range of healthcare challenges.
